“Biking and walking options aren’t just about making it easier to get around. It’s about making our city more livable.” Mayor Dyer said that as part of his State of the City address on April 29 to a full house – where there weren’t enough seats and attendees, including us, watched from outside the Dr. Phillips auditorium. But we didn’t mind, because we loved the emphasis that Mayor Dyer put on the importance of treating all modes of transportation as equals.

During his speech, Mayor Dyer also gave shoutouts to the walk- and bike-accessibility of Edgewater Drive, Mills Avenue and Corrine Drive, investing in new sidewalks, expansion of the Juice Bike Share program, additional LYNX lines, SunRail’s growing popularity, and the Bike to Work Day on May 1.
