Building Community Consensus Before Rebuilding Roads

Listening, learning and building consensus among community members are critical steps in making roads safer and more accessible for all users.  That’s why Orange County government and the City of Orlando are surveying community members and hosting several workshops to ask residents, business owners, community leaders and all concerned to share thoughts on Pine Hills Road and Mercy Drive corridors.  The next workshops are for Mercy Drive on May 22 and Pine Hills Road on June 8.

Mercy Drive Vision Plan

The City of Orlando, District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill and Canin Associates Urban Planners will host three community planning workshops to discuss a “Vision Plan” for the Mercy Drive corridor.  The first meeting is a major step towards helping to create a world-class Mercy Drive corridor. The goal of this study is to develop a long-term strategy that enhances the neighborhood through physical, social, economic and safety improvements.  For more information, please contact Veronica Anderson at 407.843.9901.

Pine Hills Road Pedestrian/Bicycle Safety Study

Public Consensus Building Workshop #1

Orange County staff, District 2 Commissioner Bryan Nelson and District 6 Commissioner Victoria Siplin want to be sure those who live and work along Pine Hills Road have a say in how it will look in the future.  They will host two consensus-building workshops and ask for public input regarding safety improvement strategies including alternatives for viable pedestrian and bicyclist safety. At the first workshop, expect to learn more about the recently-completed “existing conditions analysis” and the preliminary safety strategies. Orange County will also conduct a community survey for feedback on transportation issues and preferences for improvements.  You can find more information about the study on Orange County’s web site here.
