With pedestrian fatalities rising nationwide, the urgent need for safer roadways has never been more…
Orlando commits to “Vision Zero” – no pedestrian fatalities by 2040
One person struck by a car is one person too many. As part of the City of Orlando’s continued efforts to make our community a safer place to walk, bike and drive, the Orlando City Council approved a Vision Zero resolution that commits the city to adopt a goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2040. The move also endorses Vision Zero as a collaborative approach that involves all city departments to achieve this goal.
This resolution is the first step of a process that will establish a plan, timelines and actionable items with the goal of consistently reducing the number of crashes resulting in death and severe injury until we reach the ultimate goal of zero.
