With pedestrian fatalities rising nationwide, the urgent need for safer roadways has never been more…
BFF joins OPD to talk safety for National Night Out
This week, the BFF team headed to the Orlando Police Department (OPD) for their annual Leader’s Training event. The training, hosted by OPD, is a gathering for neighborhood watch leaders to learn about hosting a National Night Out (NNO) block party in their own neighborhoods.
NNO is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. OPD gave safety presentations while we shared some walking and driving safety tips of our own. Chief John Mina even stopped by to snap a picture and remind community members about the importance of NNO.
Huge thanks to OPD for allowing us to connect with watch leaders at the event, and to Bike/Walk Central Florida Board Member, Frank Gilbert, for joining in on the conversation. We’re looking forward to having a blast at these upcoming NNO events. Hope to see you there!
