With pedestrian fatalities rising nationwide, the urgent need for safer roadways has never been more…
Coming Soon: Best Foot Forward in Seminole County
BFFers – we have some exciting news… the Best Foot Forward program is expanding into Seminole County. First launched in Orange County in 2012, with Osceola County following in 2017, Seminole County is now hopping on board.
On February 4, we hosted a meeting with transportation agencies and planners, traffic engineers, law enforcement officers, health department officials, public school administrators, and safety advocates from MetroPlan Orlando, East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, LYNX, Florida Department of Health, Seminole County, and the cities of Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Longwood, Oviedo, Sanford to discuss how BFF can fit into their plans for safer roads in Seminole County for all users.
After hearing about how the BFF program works by combining the Three E’s – Enforcement, Education, and Engineering – attendees had ideas of their own on how to make Best Foot Forward a success in Seminole County. Discussions such as how to bring safe walking curriculum into schools, improving connectivity, and changing driver behavior through education ensued.
This is just the beginning for BFF in Seminole County – stay tuned for more information and an official launch date!
