With pedestrian fatalities rising nationwide, the urgent need for safer roadways has never been more…
Meeting new BFFs at Casselberry Earth Fest
On Saturday, April 27, Best Foot Forward hosted a table at the 2019 Casselberry Earth Fest, the second-largest Earth Day event in Central Florida. With BFF soon launching in Seminole County, it was a great opportunity to introduce the program to residents and hear their thoughts about pedestrian safety in the area.
When discussing engineering’s role in keeping people walking safe, attendees often brought up the RRFB near the Casselberry library. Residents shared that they like the flashing lights and wish that there were more of them around, as they felt that they better alerted drivers to the crosswalk.
Casselberry Commissioner Bill Hufford stopped by the table and introduced himself, commenting that he remembered the recent BFF presentation to the Casselberry Commission and is looking forward to working with the program. Special shout out to our BFF liaison for the Casselberry Police Department, Office Price, who introduced us to Officer Doran and chatted safety with us. We’re off to a great start with our new Casselberry BFFs and can’t wait to work together to change driver behavior in Seminole County.
