With pedestrian fatalities rising nationwide, the urgent need for safer roadways has never been more…
BFF explores the Great Outdoors with St. Cloud, Kissimmee and Osceola County
Blue skies, green grass, birds chirping… is there anything nicer than spending a fall (well, Florida fall) day outside? We certainly can’t think of anything better. Lucky for us, we spent November 2nd under the sun at the 5th annual Great Outdoors Day event at St. Cloud Lakefront Park.
People from the St. Cloud area came to the free event to learn about the opportunities for outdoor activities in Osceola County. With more than 40 exhibitors, there was plenty happening for all ages including interactive booths, demonstrations, and a kids fishing derby.
Great Outdoors Day is an event to raise awareness of natural resources and conservation efforts in the area. It’s also a chance for residents to learn about how they can take better advantage of the outdoor activities in the area.
Of course, when taking advantage of outdoor activities like biking and hiking, residents need to know how to keep themselves safe. That’s where Best Foot Forward comes in. Families stopped by our table to learn about bicycle and walking safety, crosswalk ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ and test their knowledge with our spin-wheel safety question challenge. We distributed Florida Bike Trail Maps, Children’s Activity Books as well as iY4Peds stickers and magnets. Several residents expressed interest in learning more and getting involved with future BFF events.
The event was sponsored in-part by BFF partners City of St. Cloud, City of Kissimmee, Osceola County, School District of Osceola County, Florida Department of Transportation and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
