Bill to Protect Walkers, Bikers Dies
A Florida bill that, among other things, would have boosted penalties for drivers who injure walkers and bicyclists was one of the many fallouts of the Florida House abruptly ending the legislative session on April 28.
The bill passed the House and Senate, but because the versions were different, it died after it was sent back to the Senate.
But it could come back. Rep. Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples, – and lead sponsor for the bill –plans to reach out to law enforcement, cycling groups, drivers and the Florida Department of Transportation to hone the bill before introducing it next session. Read more from the News Press.
