Hundreds of Students Across Orange County Participate in International Walk to School Day 2015
More than 450+ OCPS students participated in this year’s International Walk to School Day (IWTSD) on Oct. 7. The annual international celebration encourages students to walk to school to raise awareness of both pedestrian safety and the health benefits of walking.
Parents and teachers weren’t the only people that tagged along with students – Winter Park Commissioners Gregory Seidel & Sara Sprinkel, Mayor of Apopka Joe Kilscheimer, and Florida Department of Health Administrator and BWCF board member David Overfield also participated.
Healthy Central Florida, Winter Park Health Foundation, Florida Hospital and Best Foot Forward staff were on hand to support the festivities and promote the event with local media outlets such as WFTV, News 13, WESH and Fox 35.
Thank you to all of our partners and local supporters who came out to walk or joined in on social media to show support for another successful International Walk to School Day! Check out some great photos from local schools on our Flickr page.
